Ductwork for ArchiCAD provides the tools for ArchiCAD users to
model ductwork fast and efficiently, without an in-depth knowledge
of HVAC.

Architects and designers that receive simple 2D data from their
HVAC consultants can use this add-on to quickly model that data
in their projects to effectively coordinate the systems and visualize
the model using ArchiCAD's award-winning 3D tools. Architects,
Interior designers and Engineers can use Ductwork to model HVAC
systems for their projects, customizing the ductwork's appearance
to create cutting-edge designs for their clients.

Ductwork takes advantage of Graphisoft's Application Programming Interface, so you can access its features without having to leave the familiar ArchiCAD workspace. Objects behave as ordinary parametric 3D ArchiCAD library parts and can be edited and modified at will. Using round ducts, Ductwork can also be used for 3D piping and plumbing layouts.

You can use the duct routing add-on to create the outline and hatching of a duct in 2D and a solid duct body in 3D. The add-on will recognize any change in direction or level, and automatically size and place the bend of the respective duct section. Tees and shoes can be automatically sized and placed, and all connections are made automatically. Grilles can be connected with user-defined methods. When HVAC and plumbing elements need to be connected to form part of a larger 'system, ' Ductwork can automatically connect the duct elements; simply select them and use the Auto-connect command. The Auto-connect feature works with both simple two duct systems and more complex arrangements that may involve grilles, tees, flexible ductwork, etc. Using this feature makes it easy to rapidly develop extensive duct networks.

Penetrations can be automatically created for all ductwork systems where ductwork passes through internal and external walls and slabs. Users can define the clearances required on each side of the ducts, and minimum distances between penetrations that determine when adjacent penetrations should be combined. Moreover, as the building model is developed, these penetrations can automatically be updated to take account of changes in the project.

Ductwork includes a GDL object library with hundreds of HVAC and electrical 3D objects and 2D symbols. These can be added to the ductwork model created using the API tool to develop detailed designs for building services applications. Each GDL object has an easy to use custom interface to make creating the model as flexible and productive as possible. Facility Management and energy analysis information is also available in each object allowing the model to imported into additional software. Ductwork is not a standalone application and can only be run from within ArchiCAD.
